Bloomberg Brings Oculus Rift to Wall Street
JBKnowledge, Inc.’s February Tech of the Month focuses on the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset which gives users the ability to immerse themselves in a virtual world. However, the device is becoming more integrated into people’s everyday lives, and has found its way into the financial world in Bloomberg terminals. Bloomberg has been working on consolidating real-time financial information with Facebook’s new $2 million financial virtual reality headset. Traders no longer have to worry about not having enough screen space on the multiple computers at their desks.
“Putting on the bulky headset transports you to a world of infinite space and, thus, as many screens flashing financial data as you desire.”
This is promising new technology for traders who have to worry about managing dozens of computer monitors. Name to be determined, the “Bloomberg Oculus Rift” is still in the beginning concept stage, so the data is a product of mock ups instead of present network information. This augmented reality technology has the capability to change the way Wall Street and its financial world operate daily. Bloomberg plans to showcase the new technology at Bloomberg Next Big Thing Summit.
Augmented reality is finding a place in many industries ranging from construction to finance. For example, with the SmartReality augmented reality app for construction, a product of JBKnowledge Inc., builders can transform 2D plans into 3D visualizations by using a mobile device or tablet’s camera. It makes you wonder what industry augmented reality will transform next.
