Innovative Technology of the Week: Applying Leap Motion
Back In June 2012, we posted about Leap Motion, a motion tracking controller that senses gestures made by the user. Since then, the usefulness of this technology in a wide variety of circumstances has been explored.
One such circumstance is robotic surgery:
“With accuracy of up to .01 millimeters, a Leap Motion device could enable doctors to perform precise surgical procedures by manipulating robotic arms. It could also allow them to treat patients remotely—particularly useful for soldiers in combat zones or astronauts in space.”
We look forward to see where Leap Motion will be applied next.
