JBKnowledge Demonstrating SmartReality on Moverio BT-200 Smart Glasses at CES
2015 International CES, Las Vegas – January 5, 2015
JBKnowledge, Inc., a technology solutions provider to the construction, insurance and risk management industries, will make its first appearance at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas at the Epson America booth #74728 in the Sands Convention Center. JBKnowledge will demonstrate SmartReality, an augmented reality mobile app for the construction industry, customized for the Epson Moverio™ BT-200 smart glasses.
SmartReality allows builders, project owners and developers to visualize 3D construction projects using a mobile device pointed at a 2D construction plan. The mobile app, available for iOS and Android devices, bridges the gap between project conception and visualization, especially for those not accustomed to interpreting 2D construction blueprints. By viewing a 2D construction plan with the Moverio glasses, the app renders a 3D model of the proposed project and can even include a timeline animation to show the planned progress of the project throughout the construction process.
“Working with Epson Moverio BT-200 smart glasses on deploying our SmartReality app has enabled us to show the construction industry what the job site of the future will entail, beyond just tablets and smartphones,” said JBKnowledge President, James M. Benham. “Epson’s Moverio technology is extremely powerful and immersive, allowing builders to use apps like ours to augment the build environment with enhanced visualization and hands-free technology. We already have several general contractor clients using the devices and even more are eager to test them in their businesses.”
“Epson is excited to be working with JBKnowledge to help them bring to life their compelling application for the Moverio BT-200 smart glasses,” said Anna Jen, director, New Ventures/New Products for Epson America. “The Moverio BT-200 smart glasses provide developers the opportunity to create exciting enterprise and consumer Android-based applications that take advantage of the Moverio platform’s unique ‘look-through’ transparent display capabilities.”
Leveraging Epson’s patented core technologies, the Moverio BT-200 offers an unparalleled binocular smart glasses experience optimized for augmented reality applications. Micro projectors located on each side of the lens project transparent overlays of digital content directly in the user’s field of view over the real-world environment. In addition to the Moverio BT-200’s sensors for head-motion tracking and hands-free navigation, the smart glasses include a front-facing camera for video as well as image capture that detects real-world markers for augmented reality (AR) applications.
JBKnowledge’s SmartReality app will be displayed at the 2015 International CES from the afternoon until show closing, Jan. 6-9, at the Sands Expo Booth #74728. For more information visit http://smartreality.co/ces.
