JBKnowledge Intern Insight: Graham Leslie
I’m Graham Leslie, a Computer Science major in the class of 2015 at Texas A&M. I’m the current Research and Development Intern at JBKnowledge. I work directly with James Benham, where we brainstorm, research, and prototype new applications of technology to JBKnowledge products.
My primary area of research is Virtual Reality for SmartReality. Today, SmartReality employs augmented reality technology to project 3D models of BIM projects over a printed paper target.
Conversely, virtual reality takes the experience a step further and allows users to step inside the virtual environment. By employing wearable virtual reality equipment like the Oculus Rift, users can don the headset and be fully immersed in the virtual environment. The future of construction project visualization is being able to walk around a 3D BIM model and interact with it, by using your hands to open doors and move furniture.
I’m thankful to be a part of bringing virtual reality to SmartReality, and I’m excited to push these moonshot ideas into today’s construction visualization market.
Like Tupac Shakur once said, “Reality is wrong. Dreams are for real.” We’re turning dreams into SmartReality.
